Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, also known as Ghushmeshwar, is one of the twelve revered Jyotirlinga shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Verul village, about 20 km from Daulatabad near Aurangabad in Maharashtra, India. It is believed to be the last or twelfth Jyotirlinga.
The temple is an important pilgrimage site in Hinduism. The presiding deity, Lord Shiva, is worshipped as Grishneshwar, meaning "Lord of Compassion".
Legend: According to legend, a devout woman named Kusuma was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Her husband was killed and cremated by her husband's first wife. Grief-stricken, she continued her Shiva worship and immersed a Shiva lingam in a nearby lake. By Shiva's grace, her husband was brought back to life. The Shiva lingam that she worshipped came to be known as Grishneshwar.
Architecture: The temple is a beautiful example of South Indian temple architecture. It was rebuilt by Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century. The temple features intricate carvings and sculptures.
Significance: Visiting and worshipping at Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga is considered highly auspicious and is believed to grant blessings and fulfillment of desires.
